After having pursued separate careers as soloists, the couple Agnès and Gérard Abiton now happily meet on stage to perform in duo. After musical studies at the CRR in Reims and at the CNSM in Paris, Agnès Abiton has performed regularly as a soloist and together with various chamber music ensembles, notably in duo with flautist Sophie Dardeau, with transverse player Florence Demaumont and in a guitar trio. Passionate about the romantic guitar, she proposes the rediscovery of many works for fortepiano and guitar and, in 2014, created a duo of romantic guitars with concert performer and orchestra director Eric Sobczyk exploring the broad repertoire of the 19th century. Attracted by early music and trained in particular with Jérôme Hantaï, she also plays the viola da gamba. A qualified teacher since 1995, Agnès Abiton currently holds a chair at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional in Angers.

Gérard Abiton is an exceptional classical guitarist and educator who is particularly attentive to the future of young guitarists in many countries (he is cofounder of the training course Rencontres avec l’Orchestre). He was also awarded the Musicians Artists’ Association Price of Geneva for his remarkable interpretation of Quatre pieces brèves by composer Frank Martin. Gérard Abiton has played and given master-classes in more than 40 countries. His recordings include transcriptions of sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti, the complete oeuvre of Manuel Maria Ponce and Joaquin Turina, and works by other composers of the first half of the 20th century .Very recently (2021), he has published an exceptional arrangement of the second partita BWV 1004 by J. S. Bach (Fougeray editions). Gérard Abiton is currently Honorary Professor at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris and the Pôle Supérieur Paris-Bolougne.
