Born in 1998, Nestor Laurent-Perroto started playing the classical guitar at the age of 7, taking classes at the Orléans Conservatoire, with Philippe Charles. During his training, he studied with Gabriel Bianco and Agnès Abiton, with whom he obtained his diploma in 2016. He then entered Gérard Abiton’s and later Jérémy Jouve’s class at the Paris Conservatoire from which he earned Bachelors in Musicology, in Interpretation and in Pedagogy. He won 2nd prize at the International Béarn Competition (2018) and at the Thomas Kuti National Competition, organized by the Lions Club (2019).

Nestor devotes himself to a varied solo repertoire with a special interest in contemporary music, playing pieces by Tristan Murail and Luciano Berio. He is a member of the guitar quartet Quatuor Bergamasque, with whom he is involved in a vast and ambitious project of precise and coherent programs. The appropriation through transcription is a founding idea of the ensemble, as well as orchestration and sound spatialization.

Nestor also practices free improvisation, alone or in groups. Since his childhood, he has had the chance to rub shoulders with an alternative artistic and musical environment. His music reflects various influences such as Derek Bailey and Sun Ra but also the typical guitar repertoire’s aspects, which he approaches with humor, without ever falling into a fixed aesthetic. He also plays in a duo with his father Paul Laurent.
