Pietro Locatto was born in Turin in 1990. He studied guitar at the Conservatory of Vicenza under the guidance of Stefano Grondona, graduating with the highest marks and honors in 2008. He then continued his studies with Frédéric Zigante, receiving II level diplomas in teaching and in concert performance. Recently he obtained a master's degree with 1st class honours at the Conservatory of Lugano, Switzerland, where he studied with Lorenzo Micheli, and a master's degree at the Conservatory of Parma. He has attended master classes with Oscar Ghiglia, Laura Mondiello, Arturo Tallini, Massimo Felici, Carles Trepat, Pablo Marquez, Pavel Steidl, Paul Galbraith receiving scholarships and special awards including five Diplomas of Merit of the Chigiana Music Academy in Siena.
He has won multiple awards at various national and international competitions, including 1st prize at the XV International Guitar Competition Niccolò Paganini, Parma (2013), at the Gianni Bergamo International Guitar Competition, Switzerland (2016), and at the III Bale-Valle International Guitar Competition, Croatia (2017).
He performed as a soloist with the Arturo Toscanini Philharmonic Orchestra of Parma and held recitals in Spain, Switzerland, Portugal, England, Croatia, Belgium, and Italy. Since 2013 he is a member of the guitar ensemble Supernova directed by Arturo Tallini. Scholarship holder of the De Sono Association of Turin, since 2012 he has been an assistant teacher at the Conservatory of Alessandria.
His interest in Spanish music of the first half of the twentieth century led to the release of a first CD with works of Federico Moreno Torroba (Stradivarius), well received by critics in Italy and abroad, and of a second album with music by Llobet, Asencio and Mompou.
